Senseless Beauty - Surviving

Senseless Beauty just played at the Warehouse this last weekend(5/29/10) and we talked about their new album and I wish I would have had a tape recorder while we were talking because it was golden... but I think I got the next best thing. Shven Biermann (Senseless Beauty's Lead sing) wrote the Bio about their new album that will be released on June 19th... so the songs you can download here are pre-released songs... so you should feel special :)

"The new record "Surviving" is all about overcoming disaster. A month before we sat down to write the album, I had saved up some cash to buy a wedding ring. I was going to propose my girlfriend of two years and I had everything planned out. Three days before I could propose to her, she left me for another man. This was just a few months after making me move three hours away from friends and family to be with her at college. I was friendless and I had no one to turn to during the heartbreak. The woman I wanted to spend the rest of my life with had left me for a popular, more attractive man.

It would've been easy to blame God during all of this, but I didn't. God said that he knows the plans he has for me, plans to give me hope and a future. Since I can only understand what my human brain can comprehend, I can't begin to say I know God's heart or methods. I'm not sure what he has in store for me, but I do know that I was never alone. He never left me in my desolation.

So the band decided to write a record to help people. We wanted to bring that hope of Christ to the suffering. They WILL survive. They will be here after the damage. God will never leave them or forsake them. They need to know this.

We wrote this record for the broken. For the kids who get the raw deal. For the unpopular ones and the kids who think they're not good enough, because the truth is that they ARE good enough. They will make it through any and every struggle. God never abandons anyone."

I don't know what else to say about Senseless beauty... except, I can't tell you how much I appreciate a band that is so humble and God fearing... they are far from perfect but they love God, they love the kids who come to their shows and DANG-IT! they play some pretty mean music to boot! I highly suggest that you go see these guys and buy their up coming cd "Surviving" ... I promise that you won't be sorry.

Until next time, keep a rockin'

Summon the Tempest

Summon the Tempest is a Hardcore/metal band out of Minneapolis, MN. They just released their first cd called "hold the ropes". Probably one of the heaviest bands to play the First Street Warehouse. But it's more then just heaviness, these guys can really play their instruments and pride themselves in playing an intense live show. They haven't been a band very long but it looks like these guys are here to stay. Check 'em out, they don't just play heavy music, they are some really nice guys too. I'd also suggest going to see them live.

Live at the First Street Warehouse...

Welcome to my blog... I feel this Blog is very important. This Blog is all about promoting local music. All the music that is promoted on this blog is from bands that have played the First Street Warehouse. Some of the bands are touring bands and some of the bands are just getting started... Either way there is something good happening at the First Street Warehouse and I(among others) believe more people should know about it.

The First Street Warehouse is a Teen center/ music venue. Even though music is very important to us and we want the best bands... music isn't the most important thing we are about. Music is a vehicle to spread the love of Jesus through. We aren't trying to be tricky by doing this... we just want everyone who comes through these doors to know that Jesus loves them and wants a relationship with them. This leads me to my next point, we DO NOT believe that anyone should have to pay to hear the message of Jesus Christ... almost all of our shows are free. We do not expect the bands to preach but we expect all of the bands to up hold and support our mission.

That being said...

We have some of the greatest shows in the state of Minnesota... and some of the greatest kids in Minnesota. I tell the bands when they are getting ready to play "if you bring it (you know what I mean) the kids are going to show you that they love it"... meaning, the kids here love music and there is no shortage of energy at the First Street Warehouse.

So what exactly is this Blog all about? It's to promote the bands. It's to get actually songs in your possession so you can hear the bands. It's so you'd come on out to the First Street Warehouse and support the band... but The First Street Warehouse isn't the only place in the state to hear good music... but it's one of the best. I'm gonna try and post a blog about a different band every week... sometimes more then once a week. It'll have a BIO/review and a link to download a taste of the band... just a taste because I want you to support the band by buying their music.

thank you!
Jerry
